About this beach

Asilomar State Beach is a narrow mile of sandy beach and rocky shoreline along Sunset Drive in Pacific Grove, next to the Asilomar Conference Grounds. The Asilomar Coast Trail, about three-quarters of a mile, connects rocky shore and pocket beaches, with 27 entry points along Sunset Drive.

Tide pools

The rocky shoreline has tide pools. They're in the Asilomar State Marine Reserve, so collecting and fishing are prohibited. Respect any temporary closures for nesting black oystercatchers.

Practical details

The beach is open 8 a.m. to sunset. Park along Sunset Drive, off the pavement so the bike lane stays clear. There are no restrooms on the beach; the public restroom is in Phoebe Hearst Social Hall across the street.

Rules

Leashed dogs are welcome on the beach and trails. Bonfires aren't allowed.
